The gut-churning Samuel L. Jackson film became reality when a slithering serpent made a surprise appearance on an AirAsia plane during a flight from Bangkok to Phuket in Thailand on Saturday, according to the New York Post.

And, yes, the slender stowaway’s shocking mid-flight introduction was caught on video as passengers not in the immediate area of the snake scrambled to capture footage of the bizarre encounter on their cellphones.

One TikTok user with the handle @wannabnailssalon posted his video online and has racked up more than 3.4 million views.

While some passengers were rattled by the snake’s appearance atop an overhead bin on AirAsia Flight FD3015, the cabin crew stayed calm and eventually rounded it up.

A flight attendant first tried to gently nudge the snake into an empty plastic water bottle. When that didn’t work, he grabbed an empty plastic bag and used the bottle to guide the snake into it.

The bag with the snake was then stored in a cupboard until the plane landed safely, according to local media reports. Staff from Phuket airport boarded the plane after it landed and checked carry-on luggage to make sure the snake didn’t have a hidden partner before passengers were let off.

The snake was later reportedly identified as a Blanford’s bridle, which is non-venomous.

It’s not the first time art — in the form of Jackson’s 2006 film ‘Snakes on a Plane’ — imitated real life on an AirAsia flight.

In February 2022, a python was seen in the light fixtures on a flight from the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur to Sabad. That flight was rerouted to a different airport.
