Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to South Korea and Thailand see significant growth

Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Thailand experienced a notable increase in the first quarter of this year. The RoK imported Vietnamese fruit and vegetables worth US$67.7 million, marking a 59.3% increase from the previous year. Exports to Thailand also saw a substantial rise, reaching US$47.6 million, which is a 112% increase compared to the same period last year.

March was a particularly strong month for Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable sector, with exports totaling US$470 million, a 44.3% increase from February and a 12.4% rise year-on-year. This surge contributed to a first-quarter export turnover of US$1.3 billion for the country’s fruit and vegetable sector, a 30% increase from the previous year. Notably, this is the first time the sector’s export value exceeded US$1 billion in the first quarter, indicating potential for continued growth.

China remained the largest market for Vietnamese fruit and vegetables, with imports totaling US$759.4 million, a 32.4% increase year-on-year. Other markets, including the United States, also showed strong growth, with US imports amounting to US$67.7 million, a 33.9% increase from the previous year.
