The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express that on Friday (November 24th) that a man identified only as Mr. Om, 18, is a wanted suspect who is being accused of being involved in murder, attempting to kill another person, possession of a firearm and ammunition without legal permission, carrying a gun in public without legal permission, discharging a weapon in public, and carrying weapons in public without legal permission.
Om surrendered to the Thalang Police. After the shooting incident, he fled to Phuket and stayed at his father’s home at a housing estate in Pa Klok, Thalang since Wednesday (November 22nd).
Om told his father that he was just sitting on the back of the motorbike but he was not involved in killing anyone and claimed he had no idea what was going to happen and was just a passenger. His father took him to surrender to the Thai police after learning of his son’s involvement and Om will be sent back to the Dusit Police for further legal action.
Thai police, based on the arrest warrant they issued, did not believe the suspect’s claims that he was just an innocent passenger on the motorbike of one of the other shooters. As of press time the suspect had not officially entered a legal plea and it was unclear if he had an attorney.
