UPDATE: Pattaya Club Guards Accused of Beating Indian “Tourist” Reveal Victim Allegedly Lied, was a Former Employee, had Vandalized Owner’s Car

Pattaya —

The nightclub guards accused of attacking an Indian tourist on Pattaya Walking Street on Sunday, January 29th, reported to the Pattaya police to deny the accusation, saying the tourist, who is actually an ex-pat and former club staff member, was vandalizing the pub’s property and that they did not attack him but his compatriots at another venue did.

First our previous story:

An Indian tourist said Sunday that he was attacked by a group of Pattaya nightclub guards on Walking Street over what he says was a small argument.

Now for our update:

The Pattaya nightclub guards whom the Indian tourist alleged Sunday of attacking him over a complaint about courtesy met with police at 2:30 PM yesterday to tell their side of the story.

The guards, led by 31-year-old Mr. Adrian Gerritsen, told police that they did have an argument with the victim, but it was not because of the victim’s complaint but because the victim and his friends reportedly tried to disturb the pub, jumped in front of the pub’s owner’s car, and tried to smash the car.

The injured victim, identified as 35-year-old Mr. Prince C., used to work for the pub and left long ago, said Mr. Adrian. He added that the victim visited the pub at 3 AM yesterday and caused problems, so the guards hauled him away from the venue. The head guard insisted that his crew did not hurt the victim, as he just wandered off.

Chadda then walked to an Indian restaurant located 50 meters from the pub. He reportedly caused another problem there and was attacked by Indian operators of the restaurant, said Adrian.

The victim sustained a head injury and bleeding.

The accused guard told The Pattaya News that he would pursue legal action against the victim and his friend for vandalization.

Meanwhile, Pattaya Police chief Pol. Col. Kunlachart Kunlachai stated that based on CCTV footage of the incident, the victim had indeed squabbled with his compatriots at an Indian restaurant and was assaulted there, not the pub.

He added that he would summon the victim’s assailants for assault charges but also speak to the victim about his contradictory statements about the attack.
