‘Underdogs’ Port hope to upset Korean giants in ACL

Port FC landed in South Korea on Sunday hoping to pull off an upset victory in a play-off duel with Ulsan Hyundai and make it to the group stages of the AFC Champions League.

The Thai League 1 club is unlikely to have an easy time against last year’s K-League runners-up Ulsan Hyundai in the one-off match on Tuesday.

Port chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam, who was at Suvarnabhumi airport to see off the team on Saturday night, admitted that her team would enter the game as “underdogs”.

“Ulsan Hyundai are a very strong team and are former ACL winners so it won’t be an easy outing for us,” said Nualphan.

“We are the underdogs, but we aren’t afraid of them.

“The players are ready to put in their best effort and put up a strong fight against Ulsan Hyundai.
