Two women in Bangkok arrested on fraud charges

Two women are being held in police custody on fraud charges, for allegedly duping other people into believing that they could arrange for them to appear on a popular TV talk show.

Police only identified the two suspects as “Patthanan” and “Suwanna”. Police allege that Suwanna opened a “mule” bank account for Patthanan, to be used to park money transferred by their victims.

The two suspects were arrested today when police from the technology crime suppression division raided an apartment in Lat Phrao Soi 87 in Bangkok.

Police found 18 bank books, 13 credit cards and four cellphones in the suspects’ room.

Police said that 15 arrest warrants had been issued against Patthanan on fraud charges, but most of the cases were settled out of court.
