Tulare County Crop Report for the week ending Aug. 6

SMALL GRAINS AND OTHER FIELD CROPS: Cotton fields are being cultivated and irrigated. Corn, alfalfa, cotton, and silage are growing with lots of irrigation and very hot triple-digit weather. Corn silage harvest continues in various parts of the county. Summer row crops seem to be coming along nicely. Sudan grass is being cut, dried, and baled. Alfalfa is being swathed, raked, and baled. Bean fields continue to be treated for weeds and insects. Dried beans are being exported to Guadeloupe and St. Lucia.

DECIDUOUS TREE FRUITS, NUTS, AND GRAPES: Walnuts, almonds, and pistachio continue to develop with almond harvest underway. Table grapes are being sent to Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Dominican Republic, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Cambodia.
