Triumphant troll tricks Thai PM into signing his ‘Death Note’

Days before an election that could finally end nine years in power for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, a prankster tricked him into signing his name into a notebook that, by anime rules, could mean a heart attack for the 69-year-old retired general.

In a cheeky maneuver that has gone viral on TikTok, Sutthisak Panalee presented a notebook from the geek-renowned Death Note world for Candidate Prayuth to sign at a rally in Pattani city for his Thai United Nation Party.

Prayuth happily obliged.

The clip, which as of early Tuesday afternoon had been watched more than 10 million times, opens with Sutthisak grinning wickedly as Prayuth signs an open notebook. After he signs the notebook, its cover is revealed to be a replica of the titular book from anime series Death Note

with the words “Death Note” clearly visible in English on the cover.
