Traveling to Thailand from Cambodia for a week – questions about visa/etc…

Hey there. In early June I’ll be entering Thailand from Cambodia (bus ride from Siem Reap to Bangkok is my plan). I’m sure this has been asked a million times already, but do I need a visa if I’m just going to be there for about a week as a tourist? And do I need to have lodging and an exit date confirmed before I enter the country? And if I do need a visa, where should I go about getting one? Is one option better than the other between doing it at the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh vs a regular travel agency?

Lastly, has anyone had any experience with crossing the border at Poi Pet? Is the process a mess or is it pretty straightforward?
