Tragic accident at Thai religious procession: One dead and several injured

A tragic accident transpired during a festive religious procession in Thailand, resulting in one death and numerous injuries. A modified bus, driven by a novice 31 year old driver, lost control and ploughed into the crowd of merry villagers, resulting in the death of a 52 year old woman and injuring dozens more. The incident took place yesterday, in the Sum Thong village, Nong Hin district, Loei province.

The local police, led by Police Captain Thongsa Rongchart, received a distress call about a bus hitting a woman in a Kathin procession, a traditional Buddhist ceremony in Thailand. The victim, identified as 52 year old Boonthong, was found dead under the wheels of the specially modified bus equipped with a sound system.
