Tracking the path of the virus

From an animal market in Wuhan, to the spread of the novel coronavirus on board the Diamond Princess, to Seoul’s nightclub scene, the virus has still not stopped wreaking havoc on the world’s population. Just last week, the first case of Covid-19 was reported in Antarctica at a Chilean research station.

When the novel coronavirus hit Wuhan in Dec 2019, the disease did not even have a name yet. In fact, it wasn’t until February of this year that the World Health Organization (WHO) named it Covid-19.

The gravity of the disease goes beyond just human health as it has also led to social and economic impacts across the world. Life dedicates 2020’s health round-up to this newly-discovered virus that has overshadowed other issues and at the time of writing has infected over 81 million people and killed more than 1.7 million globally.
