- Two out of three Thai police officers have been transferred to inactive posts after a probe found that they were really involved in providing a VVIP service to a female Chinese Tiktok influencer.
Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of the Public Health Ministry and deputy prime minister, came out on Monday to demand more punishment for cops who provided a VVIP escort to a female Chinese Tiktoker.
Four policemen who provided a controversial VVIP escort to a Chinese female Tiktoker would possibly face a severe disciplinary penalty on top of being sacked, the deputy spokesperson for the Thai national police chief said on January 29th.
2. Bangkok immigration officers raided a Chinese restaurant operated by three Chinese men who did not have work permits.
The Chinese tourists were charged with working without a work permit, which could lead to their deportation and the blacklisting of their names from entering Thailand.
3. A Malaysian mother and her six year old daughter have been pronounced dead after a long-tail boat capsized in Krabi.
It has also been reported that the mother was four months pregnant.
4. A Thai national park official has warned tourists after a foreigner climbed without any equipment on a cliff in the famous Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park.
The incident has caused outrage on some Thai social media forums with many posters stating the foreigner should be charged, although it was not immediately clear what legal charges would be applied over the incident.
5. Thai Police on Thursday denied a viral shakedown claim of a Taiwanese celebrity tourist, saying the tourist was drunk, uncooperative, and had in her possession an illegal vaporizer.
As a war of words has heated up between Thai law enforcement and a famous Taiwanese actress who claims she was extorted by Thai police the Commander of the Thai police has ordered a full, transparent investigation.
Reportedly one of the officers involved has now admitted to extorting the woman after a week of back and forth claims and a press conference is scheduled today.
