Thais trapped in Myanmar will be home soon – PM

Forty-one Thai nationals trapped in Myanmar will be repatriated in the next few days, according to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.

“Please wait a couple more days. They will be able to return to Thailand around November 16th or 17th. I was informed of this good news by our security agencies,” Srettha said.

He was speaking from San Francisco, where he is attending the APEC Summit.

The Thai nationals were reportedly lured to work for a call centre gang, which has its headquarters in Myanmar.

Myanmar police raided the headquarters and rescued the Thais, as well as some citizens of other countries, but could not send them back to Thailand because they were caught in the middle of ongoing fighting between junta troops…
