Thais in Israel should come home – PM

The prime minister has urged Thais working in Israel to prioritise their safety by immediately returning to Thailand.

“Thais should come home first, to think about their next step. They should neither risk staying put in Israel nor accept any offers,” Srettha Thavisin said today (Tuesday).

He was responding to reports that employers in Israel have been trying to persuade Thai employees to stay in the country by offering increased salaries.

Some Thais registered their desire to be evacuated on Thai government-sponsored flights, but did not show up on the departure date, reportedly because their employers offered them more money.

The Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv earlier urged Thais who changed their minds to inform them in advance, so officials could allocate their seats to others who want to go home.
