Thais exit Changzhou meet early

Thai players had a disappointing day as they all bowed out in the first round at the US$2 million China Open in Changzhou on Wednesday.

Women’s singles hope Supanida Katethong won the first set against Saena Kawakami but eventually lost to the Japanese 21-12, 20-22, 20-22 in just under an hour.

Earlier, Aimsaard sisters — Benyapa and Nuntakarn — lost to Jeong Na-Eun and Kim Hye-Jeong of South Korea 13-21, 26-24, 15-21 in the women’s doubles opener of the World Tour Super 1000 event.

Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai also exited the tournament early after they lost to Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia 21-17, 12-21, 19-21.
