Thailand’s luscious movie posters get gallery encore

Dozens of rare and original works by the artists who gave form to cinema’s golden age will show for three weeks at a gallery in Bangkok’s Sala Daeng area.

A collaboration between the Doc Club & Pub and Thai Film Archive, Bai-Pid (“poster”) will display more than 50 posters by the poster artists whose imaginations helped shape the Thai screen in the ‘70s and ‘80s with opulent, hand-painted images.

Among the artists whose works will be shown are Somboonsuk Niyomsiri, aka Piak Poster, and his equally renowned students Thongdee Panumat and Banhan Thaitanaboon.

The exhibition will run May 25 to July 17 at Woof Pack Gallery. The building is located on Soi Sala Daeng 1. More details will be announced at a later date via the venue’s socials.
