Thailand tourism board confirm date for the return of one group of Irish passengers

Thailand’s Tourism Authority has today confirmed that vaccinated Irish passengers will be able to return without the need for quarantine from October 15.

All passengers wishing to travel East could do so without having to quarantine in regions including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The reopening had been earmarked for October 1, but due to a rise in community transmission of Covid-19, health officials have pushed the date back by two weeks.

The Tourism Minister has said he is confident the revised return will go ahead as they drive forward with their vaccination programme in order to facilitate a boost for their tourism industry.

Today 10,919 new Covid-19 cases and 143 additional fatalities were confirmed, with over 4,000 infections in Bangkok alone.
