Thailand imposes curfew across 29 worst-hit provinces

The nation’s strictest measures, including an overnight curfew, will be expanded to the 29 worst-hit provinces as incremental measures fail to contain the spread of COVID-19. 

Starting on Tuesday, lockdown measures including a 9pm to 4am curfew, travel limits and dining bans will be in place for two weeks in the provinces, including 16 newly designated “dark red,” according to Apisamai Srirangsan of the COVID-19 task force.

Gatherings of more than five people will also be forbidden.

The 29 provinces are Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Kanchanaburi, Tak, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachinburi, Phetchaburi, Phetchabun, Rayong, Lopburi, Ratchaburi, Singburi, Saraburi, Suphan Buri, Ang Thong, Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla and Yala.
