The untameable plague of call center scams is now targeting children for sexual exploitation, according to one 13-year-old girl who says she considered killing herself after being tricked into sending explicit photos.
The girl, identified only as Ann, said she will file a police complaint today after scammers conned her with a promise of THB25,000 (US$730). It started Thursday, she said, when she was approached by a “Sunisa Jompaya” on Facebook who claimed to do nude art photography. Ann, in need of money, agreed to send one photo in exchange for the money.
After sending the photo, Ann asked the scammer if she could back out. The scammer threatened to release her photo on social media and coerced the girl into sending eight more.
