Thai retail workers of Reddit: if you’re still wearing a mask at work all day, is it personal choice or because it’s your employer’s company policy?

Every branch of 7-11 that I go into, as well as most other supermarkets or convenience stores, every employee is wearing a mask, which strikes me as strange as there’s no medical or cultural reason to wear one now.

Then a new supermarket opened in my neighbourhood, CJ Mall, and none of the staff are wearing masks.

So it made me wonder, are 7-11, Lotus, etc. staff wearing them because company policy forces them to? Or is it just herd mentality and they’re waiting for the first few people to break cover and go maskless, after which they’ll all follow suit?

Still, it seems strange that mask wearing is near-universal, except for this one new mall near me…
