Thai police deny shooting protesters with live bullets after man shot in the neck

Police on Thursday night denied that they used live bullets against anti-government protesters after one of them was shot and went into critical injury.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau on Monday night issued a statement saying that they did not use live bullets to control the protesters, only rubber bullets. One of the viral videos on Thursday showed a police officer lurking around the Dindaeng Police Station before shooting at the protesters.

One of the victims, 20-year-old man whose name is yet to be identified, was shot in the back of the neck and was later taken to Ratchawithi Hospital. Rumors about the man’s death were rife last night before the hospital director, Somkiat Lalitwongsa, quashed it, saying that the man did not die but was under critical injury.
