Thai motocross bikers go spelunking, damage historic Krabi cave

A motocross team went hot dog through an ancient cave in the Thai south, and while they’ll always have footage of their rough ride, they may end up with a legal headache.

Local officials today were cataloguing the broken stalactites and wheel ruts left in Krabi province’s historic Tham To Luang Cave, saying they would file a complaint against the motocross bikers who decided to stage a race inside.

The most damage was found on the first and second of the cave’s three levels. Footage showed about 10 dirt bike riders attempting to navigate the treacherous cavern paths. They can be seen using their feet to push off from stone formations and are heard cheering each loudly.

Local forest official Wirat Yoopensuk said the cave has been registered as a historic site since 2016 after an ancient wall painting was found there.
