Thai, French theater troupes explore politics through ‘A Thai Mirror’ on Bangkok stage

Thai and French performers are bringing a political thriller to the Bangkok stage that aims to reveal unspoken aspects of Thailand.

Thai experimental theater troupe B-Floor recently joined hands with France’s Franchement Tu Théâtre to bring their new production, A Thai Mirror, to the Alliance Francaise cultural center.

The plot involves a French woman who goes to visit her brother and his fiancée in Thailand only to learn that they’ve gone missing. The woman then goes on a journey to look for them while encountering mysteries and the supernatural in this unfamiliar “Land of Smiles.”

The production is directed by Nicolas Kerszenbau, a French stage director and playwright. It’s his first time telling a tale set in Thailand, a country he believes few foreign visitors take the time to understand properly.
