Thai Authorities Conduct Raids to Apprehend Taiwanese Tycoon Allegedly Involved in Murder Plot of His Adopted Son and Wife

At 5:00 AM, on December 22nd, 2023, Thai central investigative officers and relevant agencies launched a search operation on eight locations in Chonburi, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok, to arrest a Taiwanese tycoon who allegedly hired a former SEAL instructor to attempt to kill his adopted son and wife.

There were three alleged suspects arrested according to the criminal court’s arrest warrant: Mr. Feng-Hao Chang, a 68-year-old Taiwanese man, a former president of a billionaire electronic company, R. Adm. Prakaiphruek Srifa, 64, and Mr. Thewarat Mangkorn, a former SEAL instructor.

According to a report by the police, Thewarat, the former SEAL instructor, had been previously accused of murdering Pol. Sgt. Phumin Bodinyot, 32, in Mae Sot, Tak, in 2006.

In November, the central investigative officers received a report from Mr. Chang, an adopted son of Feng-Hao, whose full name was withheld by the police, requesting protection from the Thai central investigative officers as Feng-Hao had allegedly hired a hit man to kill him and his mother.

Chang reportedly said to the police that more than ten individuals threatened to kill him while he was working at the company in August. The police then investigated and successfully captured the suspects for interrogation to find out that Thewarat allegedly ordered the ten individuals to threaten Chang.

However, Feng-Hao allegedly ordered R. Adm. Prakaiphruek to prepare a hitman, Thewarat, to assassinate Chang, said the police. It was reported that the business conflicts between father and son were taken to court including more than 20 in both criminal and civil cases.
Consequently, the central investigative officers requested an arrest warrant from the criminal court which led to the arrest of the aforementioned suspects. Initially, the suspects reportedly denied the allegation of using others to murder by premeditation, said the police.

They remain innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
