Tap into Thailand’s e-commerce market: Consul-General

The booming e-commerce sector in Thailand can offer new business opportunities for companies in the SAR and the mainland, the Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong said on Friday.

Speaking at a Belt and Road Office forum, Chaturont Chaiyakam described the latest launch of the Faster Payment System (FPS) x PromptPay Link for cross-border QR payment between Hong Kong and Thailand as a milestone for development.

He said Bangkok will seek to work closely with Hong Kong and the mainland on areas like e-commerce.

“E-commerce is one of the fastest growing industries in Thailand,” Chaiyakam said, adding that there’s strong demand from its 36 million users.
