The latest Asian dessert craze is coming to Springfield this summer.
Taiyaki — the Japanese-inspired, fish-shaped ice cream cones — are the menu focus of Taki Taco, a new ice cream shop currently under construction at 2955 Lindbergh Blvd.
“We all love ice cream from adults to kids,” said Phuong Hang, who co-owns the planned Lindbergh Plaza business with her husband, Phong Thai, “and I think sweet stuff makes people happy.”
A large serving of cute doesn’t hurt, either.
The cones are made from a pancake-like batter baked in a griddle mold with the fish’s mouth wide open. But these fishies aren’t risking the hook for a worm. They’re holding out for soft serve.
