Tailoring for women’s clothing

Any recommendations for a good tailor for making alterations to a wide variety of women’s clothing? Suits, skirts, slacks, work dresses, the occasional pair of fancy jeans or rain trench?

From my experiences, the notable suit shops are generally uninterested in doing alterations on clothing they didn’t make. Doubly so if you’re not a man. (And I doubt that most have much knowledge about contemporary women’s styles or fitting to a female body.)

So they send you off to seamstresses who make ball gowns and wedding dresses— which is absolutely not the same thing as a tailor.

Any ladies have any luck finding a reliable and knowledge tailor?
