Weathermen warn that summer storms are likely throughout much of Thailand from Tuesday to Thursday.
Natapon Natasomboon, director-general of the Meteorological Department, said on Tuesday the storms were the result of the convergence of a high pressure system from China and southerly and southeasterly winds bringing humidity from the sea. Some areas could experience hail.
He said storms were expected on Tuesday in:
– the Northeast: in Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani provinces;
– the Central Plain: Lop Buri, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi and greater Bangkok; and
– the East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
