Suggestions for older solo traveler?

I’ll have about 7 days in Thailand. I’m open to different regions, but certainly don’t want to be jumping too much from place to place. Maybe two locations like Bangkok for a few days and then off to one of the beach regions?

First off, I’m a M(50), not into the seedy side of Thailand so let’s get that out of the way. I’ll do some of the temples, but beyond that, I’m not sure what else in Bangkok.

At this stage, I’m not going to get wasted. I’d rather just chill with a drink on a beachside bar, or lounge. Strike up great conversation with locals and others from around the world. Maybe if there’s an expat community, I could try that.
There’s also tour groups, but I find many are better if you’re in a pair.
