Suggestions around Sukhumvit

I'm staying in Bangkok for a few days in the Sukhumvit area and I wasn't expecting the atmosphere I found at all.

Can you tell me any area nearby, or street, or bar in the Sukhumvit area where it has a calmer vibe and you can meet interesting people and socialize, where you can drink a cheap cocktail or a Chang that isn't 150 Baht and listen to some music and where Are you constantly being approached by "ladies"?
