Strategy for living just north of Sukhumvit … in no mans land.

Disclosure. I’ve only been here for 30 days or so so really I know nothing about BKK.

I’m trying to find a longer term hotel to stay and looking at Agoda.

I want to try to find something for around 35,000 baht

My options seem to be a smaller place, like 25sqm closer to Sukhumvit and the BTS stations OR I can find a larger place, which is more like an apt, and around 50-75 sqm north of Sukhumvit in either Ekkamai, Phrom Phong or Thong Lor. The problem though is that they’re like 15m away (walking) from the BTS.

The neighborhoods also look somewhat empty and basic. No restaurants, no food, etc.

Right now I’m staying at a hotel in Phrom Phong which is a half block away from the BTS but it’s expensive. Like 120,000 thb per month.

Am I looking at this wrong? Maybe the issue is just that transportation sucks in BKK and there’s no real solution here.

I’m used to San Francisco but I had a car there so it wasn’t too bad.
