Store to buy special culinary gifts such as chili sauce

Hello! I want to bring back some kind of condiment (chili paste or something fermented) for my friend who is watering plants for me while I am gone. Is there a shop where I can find a good selection in Chiang Mai?

My friend actually owns a shop where he imports unusual food products from Europe and Asia, so his standards are a bit high. We also live in California where we have good Asian grocery stores and can get a lot of big name brands from other countries (this is why I wouldn’t want to just go to a regular grocery store).

I see people at night markets with chili sauce that looks great, but it looks perishable (ie it’s in plastic containers rather than sealed jars). I’m looking for something like this I guess but in a jar? Maybe there is some kind of shop for tourists selling this kind of thing?
