South Bangkok Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 4, Thailand



Description

The project is developed and owned by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. The company has a stake of 100%.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant that is used for Baseload. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Diesel Oil. The fuel is procured from Gulf of Thailand.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2017 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in February 2020.

Contractors involved

Marubeni, Siemens (Proprietary) and Siemens Energy were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the South Bangkok Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 4 (South Bangkok Combined Cycle Power Plant Block 4 Unit I).

Siemens Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 2 units of SGT5-8000H gas turbines.

Siemens Energy supplied SGen5-3000W electric generator for the project.

About Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is a state-owned power utility. It generates, procures, transmits and distributes electricity. The authority produces energy using hydro, coal, natural gas, geothermal, wind, solar, diesel, fuel oil and palm oil, among others. EGAT procures electricity from neighboring countries and domestic IPPs and SPPs on wholesale basis.
