The traditional Thai New Year Festival, Songkran, has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The announcement was made at the 18th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Botswana.
