Self taught developer prospects in LoS

Hi All,

Long time lurker.

I have been considering going down the path of learning programming for a while. I currently work in software support and it seems like a natural progression.

I know devs are being laid off in much of the world but I am curious if this is being felt in Thailand. Does anyone currently working in this area have any insight on this?

Also, I note job postings on e.g. Jobs DB here ask for excessive experience and quals for even entry level roles (and not much compensation). Would employers here even look at a self taught developer?
