I am plagued by scam phone calls, to such an extent that if the number isn’t on my contact list, it’s more likely than not to be a scammer. From the classic ” you have an undeliverable parcel” and ” this is XXXX bank there is a problem with a transaction” to the more recent ” this is from the police station in XXXX province regarding a rental property in your name” and ” this is regarding your unpaid subscription fee to TV Direct”. One clue is that if you pick up the phone, sell “hello?” and there is a pause or a soft click or beep before the caller talks, then it’s going to be a scammer. I’m just wondering if there is anything that can be done other than blocking the callers? What about playing along until they give you a bank account number to transfer money to?
