Sarong sales surge after Blackpink’s Lisa spotted wearing one in Ayutthaya trip

Give it to Blackpink’s Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban to start trends.

A day after the Blackpink singer posted pictures of her trip to the city of Ayutthaya wearing a sarong, prices and demand have surged according to the owner of a fabric shop.

Images of Lisa wearing the distinctive silk sarong pattern have led to significant spikes in demand and sales for the fabric. The impact of Lisa’s posts and her choice to wear Thai fabric have not only brought attention to the beauty of Ayutthaya, but also revitalized interest in traditional Thai costumes. This has led to economic benefits for local fabric shops, going someway towards preserving Thai cultural heritage.

Lisa’s sarong came from the Charn Ruean fabric shop in Udon Thani province. Owner Suwimon Chaiwong, 61, is the mother of actress Diana Flipo, who happens to be a close friend of Lisa.
