Samut Prakan Police Crack Down on Teen Roadblock Motorbike Race, 22 Individuals Charged

Samut Prakan—

On February 22nd, 2024, Phra Samut Chedi police officers publicly revealed a case of teenagers blocking a road in Phra Samut Chedi, Samut Prakan, to hold a motorbike race. As a result, investigative police filed charges against 22 individuals.

The court issued an order for a fine of 10,000 baht for each person with 3-month imprisonment suspended on parole. The police took hold of youths and minors of a total of 10 individuals before sending them to the Samut Prakan Juvenile and Family Court for further legal processing, according to the police.

The defendants, the guardians of the minors, confessed their involvement in wrongdoings, and the court issued an order for the fine to be reduced in half to 5,000 baht per person.

However, as they were minors and had a penalty of not more than 5 years, they needed to enter a rehabilitation process together with their guardians. It was to allow them to do good deeds to society and not repeat the same mistakes, remarked the police.

If the minors and the guardians failed to follow the rehabilitation process, they would be held accountable for their crimes, said the police.

This case would be a good example for the parents to give attention to their children not doing illegal activities and causing annoyance to locals at nighttime, said the police.
