Holiday accidents and deaths below last year’s figures

Thirty-four people died and 274 others were injured in 264 road accidents on Monday, the sixth of the “seven dangerous days” of the New Year period, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported.
Traffic accidents and road fatalities are both 18.9% lower than in the same period a year ago.
According to official data, speeding was the most common cause of the accidents on Monday, 35%, followed by drink-driving at 18%, while 83% involved motorcycles and 6% pickups, the next highest…
