Australian Jack Miller overcame a penalty and searing temperatures in his best race of the season at the German MotoGP, finishing third as reigning world champion Fabio Quartararo extended his lead in the overall standings.

The Yamaha rider dominated in scorching temperatures at the Sachsenring with fellow Frenchman Johann Zarco finishing second and Miller third.

Miller, who has been with Ducati for the past five years and will join KTM for the 2023 MotoGP season, made a statement after starting the grid in sixth position.
