Request footage online from Bangkok’s CCTVs. Here’s how.

Crime victims can now save time by accessing footage from Bangkok’s extensive network of security cameras.

Bangkok’s new management announced Monday that people –well, Thai nationals – can use two channels to request footage from city-operated security cameras where a crime occured. 

Before applying, people must have filed a police report where the incident took place, then head the website or Line account @CCTVBangkok to provide a copy of their Thai ID as well as the camera’s number, which can usually be found on a sticker. Examples are online.

They must also furnish the date and time of the desired footage, according to Deputy Gov. Wissanu Sapsompol.

The request can apply to up to six cameras, but the total footage cannot exceed three hours.
