Record 27,071 new Covid cases, 80 more deaths

The country registered 80 more Covid-19 fatalities, the highest in the new wave, and a record high of 27,071 new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Friday morning.

This compared with the 77 coronavirus-related fatalities and 25,456 new cases reported on Thursday morning.

There were 27,022 local cases and 49 imported ones.

On Thursday, 21,522 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus while 230,603 others were receiving treatment (up from 225,134 on the previous day).
