Rally called to protest last-minute investigation of Pita

A protest has been called for 6pm this evening at the skywalk outside the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in response to the Election Commission’s 11th-hour decision to refer presumptive PM Pita Limjaroenrat to the court for suspension on the eve of parliament’s vote on who will be the next PM.

Protest leader Arnon Nampa posted a handwritten message on Facebook Wednesday afternoon calling for a demonstration.

The message read:

“The outcome of the fight at the destination is unknown, whether we win or lose, but being insulted and demeaned as human beings is something we cannot accept.

Responding to the oppressive authority that constantly undermines democracy is necessary, regardless of the outcome. Let everyone know that the fight has begun.”
