I trust you are all doing well. I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (since the festive period is getting closer and closer).
Okay, I would like to ask you: why are there so many tourists and new young expats in Chiang Mai having alcohol problems? I do not mean judging, but I have encountered that particular person recently. I would say it's the 3rd or 4th time I've seen that particular person (in a recent period of 4-5 months). It's a young guy/man who, each time I or other people try to talk to him, he barely remembers previous parties (our conversations). It's quite sad to see someone of such a young age drinking themselves up. I do know that he is from some European country; I can't tell which, but it seems he is suffering from sort of identity disorder because each time I have occasion with my friends to encounter him, he is(sounds) like a lovely person with a golden soul, but while he is drunk, he is telling different stories each time, like recently when he was trying to convince people that he is a comedian/an accountant, or whatever it was in his head (the whole story that he tried to unleash to his listeners and conversation inmates sounded like it was mixed from sort of drama,action,adventure,military, scient-fiction movies). On previous occasions, he was crying in one bar, sitting alone, drinking up his sorrow over the bottle, but once asked what happened, he started telling stories of losing "company and money and becoming bankrupt".
I have decided to post about it because it's not the first person I have met in Thailand or even Vietnam in similar situations, and I'm not a judge. But what you all are thinking is that those people (young men, among others) are having some identity disorders due to constant drinking (let's not call it alcoholism, but close to it), or they are just lonely, lost people afraid of being truly themselves?
I hope people who are going through something that causes them to split (scars on their mental health) will find peace and have a wonderful festive period and upcoming new year.
