Question on Visa

Got a Non B visa. Then I got a work permit tied to a school. I did NOT get the visa extension stamp yet (good until your contract ends). Non B is good until September. What if I leave my job? Sure, cancel the work permit, but does it also cancel the Non B the same day (I know this is normal once you get that extension stamp)? Or can I keep my Non B visa and then extend it a month later? If I didn’t have a work permit, I’m pretty sure my Visa remains in place and I don’t have to leave. Hope you understand.
