Question for Thais… Can someone explain the idea behind เขียดตีปาก and why some people believe slapping a baby’s mouth with a frog will make them learn to speak sooner.

I caught a small frog in the house the other day and my mother in law asked for it. She started fake slapping it against baby’s mouth as a joke but I was obviously confused. Everyone was laughing and tried to explain to me, but I still have no clue what the idea or origin of this is. They said it helps a baby begin talking. Any one have insight on this or had their mouth slapped with a frog as a kid?
