Protesters to converge on Bangkok’s Myanmar embassy on 2nd coup-versary

To protest the ongoing brutality of military rule back home, Myanmar people and supporters will gather tomorrow morning in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok’s Silom area to mark the second anniversary of the coup d’etat.

Expect crowds of Myanmar protesters assembling peacefully if loudly in front of the The North Sathorn Road tomorrow morning, two years to the day that the Tatmadaw led by Gen. Min Aung Hlaing ousted the democratically elected government and arrested its de facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.

The gathering is organized by Bright Future, a network of Myanmar nationals in Thailand

At least 300 protesters are expected tomorrow, Veera Seangthong of Bright Future told Coconuts on Tuesday. The protest has obtained police permission, he said. 

“There might be more than 300 showing up, but I didn’t want to scare the police,” Veera said.
