Protest at Ratchaprasong this evening, roads in area to be avoided

Bangkok police have advised motorists to avoid roads in close vicinity of the Ratchaprasong intersection from 3pm, as supporters of the Move Forward party plan to hold a rally there this evening from about 5pm.

Sombat Boonngamanong, a former core “red-shirt” leader, said in his Facebook post today (Saturday) that it is over two months since the general election and the parties which won the most votes from the electorate are still unable to select the prime minister and form the government.

He said that many voters now feel that they were duped into going to the polls and the 6 billion baht spent on the election was a waste of money.

He called for about 5,000 people to fill up Ratchaprasong junction and join the protest this evening.

The roads to be avoided are Ratchadapisek, from Asoke intersection to the U-turn in front of Benjakitti Park, Sukhumvit Road, from Sukhumvit Soi 22…
