Pro-Cyclist breaks collarbone after Glasgow crash with e-bike rider who ‘fell into River Clyde’

A cyclist competing in the UCI World Championships in Glasgow broke his bones after a collision with an e-bike rider in the city. Simone Consonni was riding on a cycle path which runs along the River Clyde moments before the incident.

The Italian professional cyclist will no longer be competing in the world championships following Tuesday (August 8) morning’s collision.




Consonni and team-mate Francesco Lamon were both returning from a training ride when they were involved in the crash, which happened close to the Italian team hotel by Glasgow’s Exhibition Centre.

According to reports from Cycling Weekly, the e-bike rider is understood to have fallen into the River Clyde.
