Pattaya Police in a joint operation with many other agencies such as Thai Immigration searched two nightlife venues in Pattaya last night to prevent human trafficking, minors, illegal drugs, and the carrying of weapons.
The operation was compelled by a recent raid in the Patong area of Phuket, which exposed human trafficking and child sexual exploitation activities. The search in Pattaya took place at 11 PM yesterday, March 21st, and according to officers randomly targeted two nightspots in Soi Bongkot, South Pattaya.
Many agencies took part in carrying out the operation, namely the Pattaya Police, Chonburi immigration, and Tourist Police. The authorities told The Pattaya News that they could not find anything illegal after searching the two venues, though they pledged to continue this impromptu operation to deter human trafficking, illegal drugs, the carrying of weapons by patrons or venue guards, and minors.
Pol. Col. Parinya Klinkesorn, chief of Chonburi Immigration, told The Pattaya News that he wanted to make Pattaya a clean and safe destination for tourists and that this objective could be achieved by preventing all kinds of wrongdoings.
